While the Valencia coastline is not considered a primary destination for surfing, there are several notable surfing locations along the Costa Blanca.

Furthermore, the province offers an additional advantage: given that the sport is not particularly popular among residents of Alicante, these surfing locations are not congested with surfers.

Consequently, the province has become a significant attraction for surfers originating from the drier regions of the country—namely, the interior areas of the Iberian Peninsula—who visit for a few days to enjoy their preferred sport at nearby beaches. However, it is worth noting that surfing in Alicante generally reaches its optimal conditions during the winter months.

The premier surfing beaches in Alicante are located approximately a 40-minute drive away. One of the most renowned is San Juan Beach, situated between the municipality of Alicante and El Campello.

The easterly-facing beach stretches three kilometers and has fine sand and crystalline water with waves that break on both the left and right. Puntal, at the tip of Cap del’Horta, is another great spot.

Surfing institutions in Alicante
Surfing is not the sole wind-and-wave-based activity available on Alicante's coast. Numerous schools provide courses and equipment rentals for kitesurfing, windsurfing, and paddleboarding.

The waves on these beaches are not too big, making them a great place for beginners to learn how to surf, paddleboard, windsurf, and more.

Alicante has several surfing schools with good reputations.
The Campello Surf Club, in El Campello, offers rental equipment and surfing classes.
